Wilderlands: Session 36

This session was run on May 1 st , 2023 They continued heading east towards the beach with the rock rolling along beside them. They were not sure where they had washed ashore with respect to the various port cities on the coast, so the best plan was to reach the beach and then decide how to proceed from there. Around noon, the skies darkened and white flakes began to fall from the sky. As it was around 85 degrees, they realized that it could not be snow. It turned out to be ash. The ashfall was quickly mixed with a moderate rain. They discovered that the rain stung when it hit unprotected flesh and raised small red welts. Drex found shelter in a hollow beneath the roots of a large tree and they waited out the acid rain for a couple of hours before resuming their journey. They reached the water as it was getting dark and spent an uneventful night camped just off the beach. In the morning, they could see masts on the horizon to the north, but nothing ...

Wilderlands: Session 35

This session was run on April 17, 2023. For this session, we took a look at what happened to Uggmar and Creng after they went through the portal beneath the barrows. Creng went through first. The goblin looked around his new surroundings to find that he was standing beneath the open night sky. The stars were unfamiliar and three moons hung overhead; one red, one silver, and one blue. He was standing on top of a hill that was part of a line of hills stretching as far as he could see in the dark. To one side, he saw a forrested valley below him, to the other he saw a slope down to a vast plain of what appeared to be glass. He could hear a female voice, crying out in orcish, coming from the valley. It sounded like she was in pain. Crend made his way down the slope to the plain and saw that the glass that covered it was black like obsidian. He reached out to touch it and, despite not feeling any heat radiating from it, it burned his fingers on contact. ...

Wilderlands: Session 34

This session was run on April 10, 2023.   10 Warmshade The session began with the party in Byrny preparing for their expedition through the gate they found beneath the barrows south of town. While sitting at the bar in Tulip’s Roadhouse, Stranger was approached by a Sleeth wizard. She introduced herself as TicToc and explained that she had recently finished her apprenticeship to the necromancer Metrax at the Mistwind Conclave. Stranger had hear of the Mistwind Conclave, a community of wizards in the hills outside of Byrny, but he and his companions had not visited it. As her first post-apprenticeship assignment, Metrax asked her to look in to some recent disturbances in the barrow downs south of Byrny. Years ago, the necromancer discovered that an ancient city had somehow been transported to a large cave beneath the barrows. As there were people living in it who seemed unaware that the outside world existed, he created skeleton guards in the le...

Traveller: Session 25

This session was run on April 6, 2023 018-1118 The Prismatic Ray arrived at the Last Exit (A100776-F 1019 Kushga/Diaspora) system, after an easy jump from Twinsong, an hour and a half from the high port. Last Exit itself is an airless rock primarily used for mining, subatomic particle research, and as housing for the many workers at the Tukera Lines shipyard/depot in system. While Last Exit would normally not be a candidate for shipyard/depot activity, since it is not on a main, Tukera Lines specializes in long haul ships making the requirement for a Jump-2 capable craft a benefit rather than a drawback. Even before the Rebellion started, Diaspora had a more frontier feel to it than the other core imperial sectors, with the recent conflict, the background chance of piracy has increased dramatically. The Jump-2 requirement helps insulate them from the scrappier raiders and the potential wrath of a megacorp deters the more sophisticated corsairs. The 2...

Traveller: Session 24

This session was run on March 30, 2023.     With the Prismatic Ray safely on the ground and camouflaged, Aryanna decided to head to the artists’ commune to monitor the situation with the pirates they had escaped from and to establish radio contact with Arenui and Mar-ven through local channels to avoid giving away their position. Mhan, Hal, and Zarf stayed behind with the ship. Using the Ray’s passive sensors, they could see that the Razer’s Blade , the 100 ton boat launched from Jugisaal’s Razer to intercept them, had finished with Jade’s cargo lighter and was entering Twinsong’s atmosphere. In Caldera, Arenui and Mar-ven were finishing up negotiations at the life support supply warehouse when the air defense alert sirens started to sound. The warehouse owner told them that they had to leave the building while he took his employees into the strong room. They attempted to convince him to allow them to shelter in the strong room as well, b...

Traveller: Session 16

This session was run on January 19, 2023. This session marked the start of the Far Horizon portion of our campaign. This portion of the campaign takes place in 2100 AD. It is set in a pre-interstellar Sol system. The Far Horizon is a deep space research vessel (DRV) built to facilitate humanity’s first manned mission to Pluto. Like the Mars section of our campaign, this section takes place at a lower tech level than the Traveller norm. The Far Horizon uses a nuclear thermal rocket and relies on rotating spin sections for internal gravity. The DRV’s crew of twelve had a planned mission consisting of a two year trip to Pluto in cryo sleep, a month on Pluto, and a two year return trip. The Far Horizon launched as planned and the crew entered cryo sleep a few weeks after departing. CASS, the ship’s AI, woke the crew up 18 months later to tell them that the mission had been changed. The Earth Space Development Agency (ESDA) had redirected them to Tartarus, a ro...

Traveller: Session 23

This is part of an ongoing campaign. You can find the other sessions over on the sidebar. This session was run on March 9, 2023. They entered the smoke filled hut to find “Athena Rain” lounging on a bean bag smoking from a complicated, water-filled device. The room was sparsely decorated with only a small, mostly empty bookshelf, some clothes hanging on a rack, and another beaded curtain on the far wall. The walls had been painted in garish colors similar to those seen on the outside of the hut. They did not waste time and quickly established that she was, in fact, Jessica Zhen. Zarf informed her that he was here to take possession of The Prismatic Ray pursuant to his detached duty status. She expressed surprise that the Scout Service had moved her to retired status, claiming that she was actively working on a project here on Twinsong. When pressed on this, she explained that she had encountered a Gaia planet in the Solomani Rim while still on active duty....
