Wilderlands: Dabber

Below is my adaptation of the Dabber race from Gamma World for my Castles & Crusades Wilderlands game. I believe that the picture is from the Alternity version of Gamma World. This adaptation has not been subjected to any significant playtesting yet.

Wilderlands: Session 3

This is part of an ongoing campaign. You can find the other sessions over on the sidebar. This session was run on April 25, 2022.   This session began right after the party escaped from Custalcon's Mines by doing significant damage to his manor and violence to his household staff. The party fled into the night headed eastward on the road out of the town of Trollslore.  For those of you following along at home who have access to maps of the Wilderlands (I suggest Rob Conley 's excellent maps found here ) Trollslore can be found in hex 2314 of Wilderlands Map 1 "The City State of the Invincible Overlord". This should not be confused with the city map for the city of the same name. They knew they needed to make it to Byrny (hex 2312) to reach safety. Sylvianna told them that they could cross the river at Bularg's Ferry near Byrny. They left town at a run and followed the road east and then turned with it to the north. About 15 minutes after they left town, they co

Wilderlands: Session 2

This is part of an ongoing campaign. You can find the other sessions over on the sidebar. This session was run on April 18, 2022.   This one took a bit long to get out because I got sick the morning after I ran the session and was laid for the rest of the week. We played again on the 25th, and I hope to get that session recap up soon.  At the end of Session 1, Sir Duycken ran into a bunch of giant rats while pursuing one of the fleeing guards. The party made quick work of the rats while the guards continued to flee. After fighting the rats, they reached the point where they would have to decide between escaping through the tunnel with Sylvianna or continuing on to the manor to retrieve their stuff and Duycken's animals. They decided to try for the manor, but Sylvianna could not come with them because she had important information that she needed to get to her temple. She asked them to recover her armor, shield, mace, and holy symbol and told them that they could keep the potions

Wilderlands: Ducks

Below is my adaptation of the Duck race from Glorantha for my Castles & Crusades Wilderlands game. I do not remember where the picture is from, I have been using it as a VTT token for years. Obviously, we are still early in the campaign, so there has not been much playtesting of these additional races yet.

Wilderlands: Session 1

This is part of an ongoing campaign. You can find the other sessions over on the sidebar. This session was run on April 11, 2022.   Most of the first session consisted of an extended combat sequence as the party fought to escape from the mines. I began the session by setting up that the characters had been working in the mines for about a month. During that time, they met a cleric of Athena named Sylvianna (she can be found on page 144 of the NPC Almanac Sketches ) who was also a prisoner. She had been captured while investigating a strange cult dedicated to the evil goddess of love, Mokmalla, operating in the Trollslore region. Having been working in the mines for about two months, she was given tasks that involved going out into the town from time to time and was able to make contact with some of the other priests sent to spy on the village. Trollslore is a mixed village where humans and goblins live and work together. The village, and the mines, are run by a brutal warrior named C

Wilderlands: Hoops

Below is my adaptation of the Hoop race from Gamma World for use in my Castles & Crusades Wilderlands game. I believe that the picture is from the Alternity version of Gamma World.    Obviously, we are still early in the campaign, so there has not been much playtesting of any of these additional races.

Wilderlands: Session 0

This is part of an ongoing campaign. You can find the other sessions over on the sidebar. This session was run on April 4, 2022.  This week, the transition of my Monday night game from Tekumel to our new setting was completed with our first session in the Wilderlands. Along with the change of setting comes a change of rule set to Castles & Crusades. I am a long time player and Castle Keeper of Castles & Crusades both in home games and at conventions. I used C&C for one of the groups in my long-running Stonehell campaign, and I ran an in-store C&C campaign set entirely in the City State of the Invincible Overlord (the central city of the Wilderlands). Based on a survey of what kinds of elements my players wanted to see in our new campaign, I made several additions to both the Wilderlands setting and Castles & Crusades. On the list of games that my players considered for the next campaign, Gamma World, Glorantha, Traveller, and Metamorphosis Alpha all finished we
